Steel work contractor SCH Site Services is expecting to report another record turnover after another positive year.

The Aycliffe business last year saw turnover climb to £ 4.6m – a figure which had doubled over the course of two years.
But managing director Gary Finley says sales for 2015-16 are expected to be over the £ 5m mark.
SCH Site Services started out in 2005 operating as a crane hire company with four mobile cranes and four drivers working for local companies.
The firm first started to explore the secondary steelwork market in 2011 and recorded a turnover of £ 325,000.
However, a year later, SCH Site Services moved into its own £ 500,000 premises on Aycliffe Business Park, and recorded sales of £ 2.2m.
And after moving into other areas of work, including main steelwork erection, architectural metalwork, steelwork fabrication, crane hire and contract lifts, building dismantling and site fabrication, that figure leaped again to £ 3.43m before rising again to £ 4.6m in 2015, while staff numbers also doubled during that time.
Now SCH expect to see that figure rise again, and Gary said:“ It has been another excellent year for the company, even though there was a quiet period towards the end of the financial year going into February and March.
“ But it has picked up again and orders are starting to filter through again. We’ ve worked on some big projects in recent months and we’ ve recently won a number of contracts which have been welcome news.”
SCH has recently worked on the Grey’ s Quarter development at Eldon Square in Newcastle as well as fitting out a new press shop at car manufacturer Nissan’ s Washington factory, installing staircases, hand rails and steel flooring at the new facility.
The Aycliffe firm has also completed some work on the Ethane Terminal for Balfour Beatty on Teesside, and has completed a 350-tonne project working on the Metro Centre’ s new Qube II extension, which required SCH to supply and install a range of different types of primary and secondary steelwork at the Metro Centre’ s £ 11m development.
“ We’ re now an all-encompassing steelwork contractor delivering seven-figure contracts using our own management, manufacturing and installation teams,” added Gary.
SCH is now a competent and successful installer of timber Glulam and cassettes for Derby-based B & K Structures after completing a number of projects over a number of years, including Pinewood Studioes and BSkyB.
Closer to home, SCH recently constructed a 150-tonne primary and secondary steelwork project for Huntsman Tioxide at tier one coma site in Greatham, near Hartlepool, for a new chlorinator, which involved using a 400-tonne crane to complete its complex structure.
Meanwhile, SCH has recently won six new contracts, including another large project for B & K Structures at Warwick University and a small extension for Aycliffe firm BTS Fabrications.
SCH boasts Sir Robert McAlpine, B & K Structures, Wates Group( formerly Shepherd Construction), Robertson’ s North-East, Hall Construction, Peikko and Balfour Beatty among its impressive client list.
