What do you do?
I work at Thrive Marketing Limited
– we’re a small company that helps
others with their inbound marketing –
everything from design, web solutions
to blogging, social media, content
creation and strategy.
Who have you worked
for in the past?
Apart from the usual ‘grown up’
jobs in marketing related posts for
companies such as Trisk (watching
paint dry!), Miller UK (I’m still a bit of
a digger geek) and Dominic Hunter
(filtration and gas generation), I have
also worked in a hairdressers, the
kitchens at the Memorial Hospital, as
a market trader, in numerous pubs, as
a shelf stacker, as a pork pie maker
(extraordinaire!), home-made fudge
seller at country shows and much
more – an eclectic mix!

What was the best part of your job?
Great team, some amazing customers
and learning new things all of the time.
Was there anything about your job
that you really didn’t like?
Not really! My main ‘pet hate’ is
people that are late.
Favourite thing about working on
Aycliffe Business Park?
The commute – I live in Aycliffe Village
so it’s two minutes if that!
9.
Which company/individual on the
park do you do the most work with?
We work with quite a lot of the local
business – I have a personal ‘soft spot’
for Stiller as I have worked for/with
them in a number of different guises
since I was 17 (many, many years) –
and with all three generations.

Who’s your tip for future success?
The whole of Aycliffe Business Park
– it’s an amazing place! As well as
some ‘big hitters’, I think we have a
great community of smaller, service
based companies that provide valuable
support and opportunities.
Four famous people you’d love to
have round for dinner and why?
My answer to this changes all of the
time! At the moment, I think, Michal
Palin (for travel knowledge), Hugh
Laurie (I think he’d be fascinating), Sue
Perkins (for the same reason as Hugh)
and George Clooney (eye candy) and
if her weren’t available, my husband
Gavin who is my very own George.
I’m sure they would all love my Pop’s
home-made spaghetti Bolognese!
If you could do something else in
business, what would it be?
Arts and crafts.
10. Who’s your favourite Tweeter?

Have you ever done anything really
daring?
Not really – I am the most risk adverse
person in the world and see danger
everywhere! I did once end up in a bit
of a dodgy part of Israel with armed
guards, that was a little un-nerving.
What’s the best piece of business
advice you’ve been given?
In the words of Kenny Rogers – ‘know
when to hold ‘em, know when to fold
‘em, know when to walk away and
know when to run’! (See later music
question – very dodgy taste!).
If money was no object, what would
be your ideal car?
Tough choice – a navy blue Aston
Martin or, actually, a proper ‘old
school’ Landrover Defender (with a
comfortable inside) or, possibly, a 2CV.
Money no object, your dream
holiday would be?
A lavish tour of Italy. Although my
favourite places in the world are
Jervaulx Abbey and Ardtornish Estate
in Scotland.
Do you have a favourite band
or type of music?
I am never allowed to go near the
music in the office – apparently I have
terrible taste! I’m an 80s girl at heart
so all of that era with a bit of rock
thrown in and I have a weak spot for
Andrea Bocelli.
What is your greatest achievement?
I am still to achieve it!
How would you best describe
yourself in four words?
Loyal, detailed, organised, eccentric.
