FLYING HIGH WITH
HEATHROW DEAL
A County Durham engineering services
company is flying high after landing a quarter of
a million pound contract with Heathrow Airport
in London.
IES – Inspection and Engineering Services – of
Evans Business Centre on the business park, is
working on the new Terminal 2a and 2b and the
Terminal 3 integrated baggage centre.
Director Trevor Forsyth said the contract is worth
‘close to £250,000’ to the company.
“It is an amazing project, with which we have
been delighted to have been involved, he said.

“The Terminals are fantastic, with underground
tunnels running for miles and miles, big enough
to drive a truck through.
”
The company, which was formed three years
ago, has been responsible for the all the
non-destructive weld testing at the terminals,
working with Watson Steel of Lancashire, which
is a crucial part of the building and development
process.

Singapore, Australia, Ireland and Germany,
as well as most parts of the UK. They have
worked with big names, such as Siemens UK
and Siemens Germany, Severfield Watsons
Ltd and will shortly start work with Harland
and Wolff in Belfast.
