WELCOME
FOREWORD By John Finley (Finley Structures)
Welcome to the second issue
of Aycliffe Today Business, and
Happy New Year!
Although this publication is only new, I know
the first issue before Christmas was very
well received on the business park, and I
think it’s a fantastic addition to the estate
generally.
I’ve been involved with the Aycliffe Business
Park Community (ABPC) from the beginning
and I also sit on the steering group, as I
feel quite passionately about improving the
surroundings in which we work.
Members of the group have been given
different areas of responsibilities and mine
has been to try and improve the appearance
of the park, by getting overgrown grass cut
and flower beds installed.
One of the options we’re looking at is getting
these flower beds sponsored by local firms –
and we’d welcome any offers!
You may well be thinking ‘does grass-cutting
not come into our business rates?’. But due
to the ownership of land on the Park, it does
make things very complicated.
We’ve managed to persuade the landowners
to tidy up a lot of areas and Vine Properties
have agreed to sort the old Sanyo site as
well, so we’re making in-roads with the
relevant people to try and enable us all to get
more for our money. As you can see, we’re
trying to do our bit.
I’m sure the new website and free
directory will provide us all with a very
welcome facility to improve awareness of
all companies and communication between
us – to complement this very magazine, of
course!
As for Finley Structures, we entered into
our 13th year of business last August and
owe our continuing success to our excellent
management team and workforce, which is
growing at the same pace as the size of our
projects.
We currently employ 13 office staff and 33
in production, while our sister company SCH
Site Services employs 34 people.
We’re winning bigger, high-profile contracts
and we’re working on 1,000-tonne projects
up and down the country which have
strengthened our position in the market
hugely.
I’m proud to say being based on Aycliffe
Business Park has played a major part in our
success, and we look forward to many, many
more fruitful years here.
Regards
John Finley
