3-year ASBO for yob
A Newton Aycliffe yob who
terrorised
residents
and
shopkeepers in the town has been
handed a three-year ASBO.
Police successfully applied for an
Anti-Social Behaviour Order against
21-year-old Aycliffe resident Lewis
McCormick.
McCormick was said to have
been
involved
in
persistent
anti-social behaviour, including
intimidating members of the
public and shopkeepers, being
verbally abusive, fighting in a public
place, and drunken and disorderly
behaviour.
McCormick was given the threeyear ASBO, and has been told to stay
away from shops in the Simpasture
and Neville Parade areas. Anyone
who suspects McCormick may
have breached his ASBO should
ring Durham Police on 101.
Man needs stitches
after attack
Police are appealing for witnesses
after a man needed stitches to a
cut eyebrow after an unprovoked
attack in Newton Aycliffe.
The incident happened in the
Honister Place area of the town
some time between 2am and 3am
on Saturday November 23 when the
victim was punched to the face by
another man, knocking him to the
floor where he received a further
kick to the face.

on 0800 555 111.
Police relocate
Newton Aycliffe’s police team
has officially moved into their new
home, sharing with the town’s fire
brigade.
The
County
Durham
and
Darlington Fire and Rescue
Authority building on Central
Avenue has become home to
Aycliffe bobbies, a move that will
help to provide a town centre police
presence in the area and is believed
to be one of the first in the country.
The Fire and Rescue Service will
continue to provide its operational
response and community safety
services from the station. The
police station within the building
will be open from 10am to 5pm
Monday to Friday.
