Everyone who knows me , knows how passionate I am , and always will be , about Aycliffe Business Park .
I launched my first business in Aycliffe 12 years ago and I continue to publish , with great pride , the Aycliffe Business magazine from a small office at Parson ’ s Court .
But not all of you will know just how much of a historical connection I have with Aycliffe Business Park .
My four siblings have all worked on the business park over the last 30-odd years .
My parents both worked on the park for decades . But , before that , my grandad – Dave Mehaffy – worked as an engineer at Colstons in the 1960s and 70s , working on the twin

Welcome to the 68th issue of Aycliffe Business .
tub washing machines . That company is now known as Gestamp Tallent , which has clearly evolved over the years .
And even before then , my grandmother , Frances Walker , was one of the famous Aycliffe Angels , working in one of the Royal Ordnance Factories ( ROF 59 as it was named ) in the early 1940s , making bombs and bullets for the war effort , before eventually moving to the town .
So , my connection with Aycliffe actually goes back more than 80 years .
And that made us sponsoring the Lifetime Achievement Award so poignant – giving us the opportunity to recognise those for their long-term contribution to their business , their sectors and the Aycliffe business community as a whole .
