Aycliffe firm inspires award win

Darlington-based recruitment agency Recruitrite was honoured with a Digital Transformation award at the 2023 Tees Tech Awards , recognising its exceptional adoption of Aycliffe firm Excelpoint ’ s no-code technology to transform business operations .

The awards , organised by Tees Business – sister publication to Aycliffe Business – is an event celebrating the thriving technology sector in the Tees Valley region , bringing together industry leaders , visionaries and innovators .
This year ’ s Tees Tech Awards , in association with DigitalCity and Middlesbrough Digital , were delivered in front of more than 300 guests at Kirkleatham Walled Garden ’ s pavilion near Redcar .

Excelpoint welcomed three college students to their Aycliffe Business Park offices as part of marketing work experience week . Maja Kowalska , Hannah Board and Jessica Cowan from Darlington ’ s Carmel College Sixth Form spent the week at Excelpoint ’ s offices at The Work Place , allowing them to gain invaluable insights .

With aspirations to pursue apprenticeships and higher education in marketing and business , their work experience week became a pivotal step in shaping their paths toward success .
Maja said : “ One of our main accomplishments was the creation of a blog , focusing on the topic of no-code software , proving insights into its importance and the benefits of it in today ’ s business world .”
Hannah said : “ We had the opportunity to create a social media post about the blog , selecting relevant imagery and sharing it across Excelpoint ’ s social media platforms .”

ANIMAL FEEDS EXPANSION A family business is creating dozens of local jobs with a £ 10m expansion into a new distribution centre , driven by the demand for natural raw food for pets .
Durham Animal Feeds , based at Rushyford , near Newton Aycliffe , is expanding into 30,000 square feet of cold storage facility and a huge new raw natural pet food superstore .
The new site on Merchant Park , next to Hitachi on Aycliffe Business Park , will create dozens of new jobs for the area alongside improved distribution .
BATTERY SITE APPROVED The UK ’ s first large-scale lithium refinery has been approved for Teesside .
Green Lithium has received planning permission for the 58-acre development which will support 1,200 jobs in its construction and create 250 full-time roles once operational .
Bosses say the facility – on PD Ports ’ Teesport site – will provide muchneeded support to the automotive and battery manufacturing industries in the UK and the EU , as the demand for lithium processing capabilities increases due to the global shift to electric vehicles ( EVs ).
POUND AWARD County Durham Pound picked up the Best Public Sector Project award at the 2023 Social Value Conference .
The award recognises a public sector organisation that has commissioned or procured a single project or framework and maximised the delivery of social value .
Durham won the award ahead of projects from London , Cheshire and Merseyside .
