Aycliffe Business ’ s sister publication Tees Business has got 2023 off to a flying start .

The Middlesbrough-based organisation – owned by Aycliffe Business editor Martin Walker and his business partner Dave Allan – set their stall out towards the end of 2022 , with a number of new events being added to the calendar .
Veloci-Tees was the first new venture to be launched – a lunchtime awards event to celebrate the Tees region ’ s fastest growing companies .
Sponsorship packages for the event were sold within two weeks .
Tees Business organised the inaugural VelociTees in partnership with UK top 10 accountancy firm Azets and successfully delivered it on February 16 in front of 150 guests at Wynyard Hall .
“ It ’ s a really great idea to introduce these awards ,” said Azets regional managing partner Joanne Regan .
“ There are other awards out there that celebrate the region ’ s successes , but the VelociTees put our homegrown , and growing , businesses on the map and help give them valuable exposure .”
Tees Business also revealed plans for the inaugural Tees Business Awards at the end of 2022 , with all category sponsorships getting snapped up within a month .
The awards promise to be “ The Oscars ” of the Tees business world , recognising the Tees region ’ s best businesses and entrepreneurs at a glittering Hardwick Hall ceremony on April 20 .
Sponsors include headline backers PD Ports and category sponsors the Tees Valley Combined Authority , CF Fertilisers , Middlesbrough College Group , Tascomp , Teesside Rigging & Lifting , Durata , Punch Robson Solicitors , Katmex , Leaders are MAD and Westray Recruitment .
The event will complement the existing awards events already delivered by Tees Business , including the Tees Businesswomen Awards , the Tees Tech Awards and the Best New Tees Business Awards .
“ We are delighted to be sponsoring the inaugural Tees Business Awards ,” said PD Ports CEO Frans Calje .
“ At PD Ports , we pride ourselves on working with all of our stakeholders across the Tees Valley to build a brighter future for our region and to achieve our shared ambition of economic growth and job creation through innovation , talent and investment .
