Woodham students enjoy visit to Aycliffe Business Park
Engineering students from year 11 at Woodham Academy have recently visited South West Durham Training Centre to develop a greater understanding of the post-16 training courses that are available to them .
The day had been designed to give students practical experience of a range of vocational opportunities .
During one session , students talked to current apprentices from Glaxo SmithKline about the training they were undertaking and potential routes into higher education .
In addition to this , students had taster sessions in both machining and welding to gain an insight into the experiences and training they would receive as well as the skills they would develop as part of the vocational education route .
Engineering continues to be one of Woodham Academy ’ s most successful subject areas in terms of year 11 results and it has been further enhanced with the launching of the Technology Academy in September .
