OHTS on the road to success after Make your Mark award win
Occupational Health and Training Services ( OHTS ) is on the crest of a wave after its win at the 2022 Make Your Mark awards . OHTS picked up the Service Business of the Year award during the glitzy ceremony at Redworth Hall Hotel in May .
The firm relocated from its Aycliffe Business Park premises to larger space at The Work Place in 2021 , due to needing extra space for its growing team numbers and client base .
Since then , the OHTS team has continued to thrive , with new management roles , additional technicians and imminent plans to employ more medical staff .
To combine with the expansion of the company , OHTS have invested in a fullyequipped mobile screening unit which is a big hit on the business park and across the North-East .
It offers a flexible cost-effective service while minimising the business impact of having employees travel to the clinic .
Director Linda Jones , who ’ s also the specialist nurse practitioner , started her health career with a specialisation in trauma , orthopaedics , and emergency care , prior to becoming focused in occupational health over 20 years ago .
In her earlier days , Linda was a member of a medical ‘ flying squad ’ in the West Midlands and was a nursing officer for P & O cruises , which gave her more medical experience of providing life support at the scene of
emergencies .
Linda is undaunted by the sight of blood or other injuries , which stood her in good stead for coping with the numerous medical situations that have cropped up over the years , but also inspired an interest in the more preventative speciality of Occupational Health .
“ The key to success has been a commitment to a high standard of care and genuine interest in every client , but also support for each other ,” says Linda .
“ It ’ s great to see growth within the company , but also a huge pleasure to watch the OHTS team continually develop their skills and knowledge .”
OHTS has a growing client base which includes small , medium and large companies in manufacturing , education , medical care , chemicals and many more . Some larger clients include Gestamp and Ineos Compounds .
Back in September this year , OHTS took part in the health campaign ‘ Know your numbers week ’, partnered with Blood Pressure UK .
The team carried out free blood pressure checks around Aycliffe Business Park using the mobile screening unit for several companies including Stiller , BTS , Roman and Ricor .
They also attended the opening of Great Aycliffe Cancer Hub in Aycliffe town centre to carry out free blood pressure checks for the public and particularly those affected by cancer .
