THE EXTERMINATING ANGELS (2006) A film by Jean-Claude Brisseau THE EXTERMINATING ANGELS is the second part of filmmaker provocateur Jean-Claude Brisseau’s (Choses Secrètes, À l'Aventure) startling trilogy exploring societal taboos. Director François (Frédéric van den Driessche) is fascinated by the mystery surrounding women and sexual pleasure. Intent on making a film about the subject, he auditions a series of actresses, encouraging them to enact their most secret, forbidden desires. Watched over by two fallen angels, François’ immersion into the world of his performers’ fantasies threatens to destroy him. Brisseau’s sexually charged film, whose philosophical inquiry into pleasures of the flesh is often leavened by his sly humour, is a provocative and intense experience. “outrageous” Peter Bradshaw, THE GUARDIAN “a cerebral skin flick… Suave seriously dirty” and salacious… “Exterminating Angels” is NEW YORK TIMES “frequently funny, authentically arousing” VARIETY “unabashedly erotic… the execution is hypnotic” CHICAGO TRIBUNE “not since Basic Instinct has a modern noir gotten so playfully aroused by straightmale sexual phobia” THE VILLAGE VOICE OFFICIAL SELECTION – Director’s Fortnight – Cannes Film Festival 2006 Bonus Features: • Interview with director Jean-Claude Brisseau and editor María Luisa García • Deleted scene, with introduction by Jean-Claude Brisseau • Stills Gallery Certificate: 18 Running Time: 99 minutes Aspect Ratio: 1.33:1 Audio: Dolby Stereo and optional 5.1 Country: France Language: French with optional English subtitles Genre: Drama / Erotic Region: 2 Cat.
