BLUE EYELIDS (PARPADOS AZULES) (2007) A film by Ernesto Contreras BLUE EYELIDS (PARPADOS AZULES) is the critically acclaimed account of the developing relationship between two people in the vast metropolis of Mexico City. Winner of a Special Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival, it has earned director Ernesto Contreras a place alongside Alejandro González Iñárritu (Amores Perros, Babel) and Carlos Reygadas (Japón, Silent Light) as a major new force in world cinema. Marina (Cecilia Suárez), a shy employee at a local factory, wins an all-expenses-paid holiday for two from her work. Although initially unable to find someone to accompany her, she encounters Victor (Enrique Arreola) in a coffee bar. Her invite prompts a series of dates that are by turns funny and awkward, as Ernesto Contreras skilfully explores the difficulties of finding happiness in the modern world. With music by Ray Davies and featuring exceptional performances by Suárez and Arreola, BLUE EYELIDS is a subtly nuanced and wonderfully unconventional love story. “impressive... gem of a film… a Peter Bradshaw, THE GUARDIAN pinsharp cine-poem of romance.” 4 STARS “Beautifully acted, imaginatively directed… this funny, touching movie is a treat.” Geoff Andrew, TIME OUT “I was hooked” Jason Solomons, FILM WEEKLY – THE GUARDIAN “delightful” Wendy Ide, THE TIMES “a winning tragicomic romance, with a dab of magic realism” THE INDEPENDENT ON SUNDAY WINNER – SPECIAL JURY PRIZE - Sundance Film Festival 2008 OFFICIAL SELECTION – CRITICS’ WEEK - Cannes Film Festival 2007 Bonus Features: • Exclusive interview with director Ernesto Contreras • “The Making of Blue Eyelids” • Deleted scene • Stills Gallery Certificate: 15 Running Time: 94 minutes Aspect Ratio: 1.85:1 anamorphic Audio: Dolby Stereo and optional 5.1 Country: Mexico Language: Spanish with optional English subtitles Genre: Drama Region: 2 Cat.
