In what is now an annual event, Hua Hin is once again welcoming top
tennis players at the turn of the year exhibition tournament being held at
the Hua Hin Centennial Club.
The star attractions this year are worlds number five Agnieszka Radwanska
and number seven Venus Williams, ably supported by Germany’s world
number ten Angelique Kerber and Italian world number 20 Sara Errani.
The two-day ‘World Tennis Thailand Championship 2016’ will be played
from Thursday 31st December 2015 to Friday 1st January 2016, with tickets
priced at 2000 baht per day.
Hua Hin Centennial Club is located just off Petchkasem Road to the south
of the town, on the right as you come off the flyover, slightly before and
opposite Vana Nava Water Park. It has been the venue for a number of top
class tennis events in recent years, with the first being part of Hua Hin’s
centenary celebrations in January 2010, when Maria Sharapova and Venus
Williams competed, and there has been an event at a similar time every
year since, making this the seventh such exhibition.
The players taking part use the opportunity not only to let their Thai fans
see them live, but also to sharpen their games ahead of the opening Grand
Slam tournament in Australia, the Australian Open, which is being held in
Melbourne from the 18th to 31st January.
