hua hin bike week
celebrates ten years
hua hin, THAILAND
The tenth anniversary gathering of the Hua Hin Bike Week started today
at 19 Rai or Queen Sirikit Park, and continues tomorrow (Saturday 29th
November), a week earlier than previous years as this year it would have
directly clashed with His Majesty the King’s birthday celebrations, which
take place next Friday, 5th December. On a side note, we are not publishing
AWOL next Friday for the same reason, as many of the venues we normally
deliver to will be closed.
Hua Hin Bike Week first took place in 2005, and has been coordinated and
organised every year by Khun Aod, otherwise known as the leader of the
Vampire MC group. The venue for many years was the large vacant plot of
land along the canal road, but in recent years they have tended to stage it at
this years venue, when available. For those unfamiliar with Hua Hin, head
north on the Phetkasem Road from the centre of town, and take a right
into soi 35 at the traffic lights beside the King’s Palace - this road bears left
and then runs parallel to the sea and the location is further along, near to
the Immigration office.
Hua Hin has already seen the arrival of some groups of bikers this week,
and the town will be full with mean looking leather clad groups, who are
mostly some of the nicest people you could hope to meet, and everyone is
welcome along to the events, which will include live music, competitions
and lots of rare and customised machines. Registration costs 200 baht
and T-shirts featuring this year’s promotional logo will be available for 300
baht. Much of the money raised is normally given to charities and other
good causes. As always, please be careful on the roads as they will be
busier than normal, and please give plenty of room to bikers.
