With a comfortable two - nil victory on Saturday at the Fort Thannarat
stadium in Pranburi over JW Bangkok, Hua Hin City F.C. both won the Thai
Division 2 League Central & Western Region title and achieved qualification
to a Champions League style group stage split into two groups of six teams.
The club laid on free transport to the stadium from the centre of Hua Hin
and it was a party atmosphere from well before kick off, with the team
only needing a draw to secure qualification and a win the title, barring a
landslide of goals from the teams below them. The final table can be seen
on page 22.
Four teams will be promoted from the group of twelve qualifiers to Division
1, the tier below the Thai Premier League, with the other eleven teams
being Thai Honda (Winner) and BCC Tero (Runner-up) from Bangkok &
field region, Prachinburi United (W) and Maptaphut Rayong (R-up) from
Central & Eastern, Sukhothai (W) and Phichit (R-up) from Northern, Ubon
UMT (W) and Udon Thani (R-up) from North Eastern, Prachuap Khiri
Khan (W) and Satun United (R-up) from Southern and the runner up in
Hua Hin’s Central & Western league, Phetchaburi. The draw for the groups
was not available at press time but the games are scheduled to start in a
couple of weeks time.
Congratulations to the team for achieving what they have so far in only
their second season in this league and only their fourth year in existence;
lets all cheer them on in hope that they can get promotion to the higher
division - well done to all at Hua Hin City F.C.!
