immigration moves again for the last time?
hua hin, THAILAND
The long mooted move of the Immigration Bureau in Hua Hin is finally
happening, according to official notices that have been posted at the
current office, although at press time the actual date of the move was still
a little uncertain.
According to immigration officers, the move was due to happen at some
point between Wednesday 25th June and Tuesday 1st July, while the map
and other notices on display outlined that the new location will be on Soi
35, close to the Queen Sirikit Memorial Park, or 19 Rai as it more commonly
referred to.
For anyone who needs to visit immigration and arrives at the old office on
the canal road to find it closed, the new location can be found as follows:
coming from Hua Hin, take the main Phetkasem Road going north before
turning right at the traffic lights just after the Klaikangwon Palace grounds,
which is Soi 35. Follow the road and bear to the left where the road turns,
and then proceed parallel to the coastline for approximately 750 metres,
and you will see the new Immigration Bureau on your left. From Cha Am
and the north of Hua Hin, take the main Phetkasem Road south to Soi
19 and turn left into it - the soi is next to a large temple and has an open
temple ‘gate’ spanning its entrance. Go to the end of this soi and turn right
(there is a sign to immigration here); you will go past the park on your left
and the Immigration Bureau is about 100 metres further, on your right.
While there has been no official word it looks very much like this could be
a permanent home for what is still officially an offshoot of the Dan Singkon
immigration office near Prachuap Kiri Khan, which, if it is, we are sure
will be a relief to both staff and those using it, after five relocations in the
last eleven years.
