swimming - a valuable life lesson

A little publicised but very important fact is that seven children die every
day in Thailand from drowning. Only last month a terrible tragedy in Cha
Am claimed the lives of three teenagers in this manner. Learning to swim
should be a priority for all children and adults to lessen the chance of this
happening, and particularly in coastal resorts like Hua Hin and Cha Am,
and with so many swimming pools around.
Many parents will try (and succeed) in teaching thier children the basics,
but often there is a need for professional help from an internationally
accredited Swimming Teacher, and we are lucky enough to have one in the
shape of Matt at the Swim Hua Hin Swimming School. They offer swimming
classes to suit all ages - programs based on progressive teaching methods
for babies, toddlers, children and adults that start from only 200 baht per
lesson (groups of up to five) or more for individual lessons.
Recently however, the school has had a problem in that the pool they were
renting to hold their classes is no longer available, and they are appealing
to the readers of AWOL to help them find a new venue. If you have or know
of a conveniently sited pool, preferably somewhere between sois 6 and 108
and the nearer the centre the better, and ideally rectangular between 15
and 25 metres long, with depths ranging from 1 to 1.8 metres, and which
would be free every day for between two to four hours, Matt would like
to talk to you about a rental agreement for him to be able to continue the
valuable service he provides.
