will city plans to improve
infrastructure be approved?
hua hin, THAILAND
Further information about the plans to improve the facilities and
infrastructure for the Hua Hin area have been released in the last week,
although many of them have yet to have their budgets approved and may
not go ahead despite the urgent need.
The local and national authorities have recognised the desperate need to
improve the road and water infrastucture, and most of the plans focus
on these areas. The rapid growth of the area which has seen a huge
increase in construction the Department of Public Works and Town and
City Planning will formulate a new Hua Hin City Plan this year after the
former plan expired almost 10 years ago. This new City Plan will expand
the Municipality of Hua Hin to cover the 97 sq. km. area of Hin Lek Fire
Sub-District
The water shortages have resulted in proposal for a 988.65 million Baht
budget from the government for a 3 year project to lay water pipes of 20
kilometres from Pran Buri Dam to a reservoir. The proposal was made
twice in the national fiscal years of 2012 and 2013, but it was not approved.
An attempt to reduce road congestion will see an 8 kilometre monorail
train system installed running from the Cicada Market in Khao Takiab, if
studies to be carried out deem it possible. Another idea being formulated
is the uilding of a new 4 to 6 lane road of 15 to 16 kilometres, to be built
between the railway and Phetchakasem Road starting from the Borfai
Airport to Soi 112. A tunnel is currently being dug along Phetchakasem
Road to facilitate more traffic and a new parking lot will be built, with cars
parked on the road having to pay to do so. In addition Phetkasem Road will
be expended to become a 4-6 lane road in more places, and will also be
resurfaced along with Soi 102. National plans to improve the route south
from Bangkok through Hua Hin are also in progress.
