2022 ANNUAL REPORT
While there was much I didn ’ t know and couldn ’ t have foreseen as 2022 dawned , those sentiments were only reinforced as the year unfolded . It was energizing to work alongside you to confront both the “ knowns ” and the “ unknown unknowns ” of a watershed year , guided by a strategic plan that gave focus and direction to our efforts . It was confidence-inspiring to witness the collective power of a unified industry and dedicated partners working to shape our future in the face of complex challenges and disruptive change . It was clarifying to hear not just “ no ,” but in some cases , “ no way ,” from policymakers as an initial response to key industry advocacy priorities – and bracing to summon the perseverance and creativity not to take “ no ” for an answer , but to get the job done in the face of formidable challenges .
All of those experiences only reinforced and deepened my personal commitment , and AWO ’ s organizational commitment , to living our mission as your advocate , resource and united voice and to delivering the results that support you in doing the important work of providing safe , sustainable , and efficient transportation for your customers and for our country .
I hope that as you review the pages of this Annual Report , you feel a sense of accomplishment and pride in the progress we made together in 2022 . We don ’ t know what 2023 will bring , but I am energized , confident , clear-eyed and committed to working for you and with you to make the most of it .
Thank you , as always , for your guidance , your engagement , and your support .
