President’s Message AWCCI is delighted to present the fourth edition of “Afghan Women in Business” magazine 2019. This magazine incorporates the highlights of AWCCI accomplishments in last quarter of 2019, Businesswomen suc- cess stories, and analysis of production capacity survey of Women-owned Businesses. AWCCI publishes this magazine with the purpose of making people aware of AWCCI’s activities in center, east, west, north, and south zones and reflecting Afghan businesswomen distinguished achievements. We hope you enjoyed reading our magazines as we are putting together many valuable information and stories on businesswomen in Afghanistan to show how afghan women are economic actors, daring and diligent hu- man beings. Manizha Wafeq President & Editor Afghanistan Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry was estab- lished to create an umbrella organization for all women business owners in the country and to serve as information sharing platform for businesswom- en, policy makers and people of the country in order to create acknowl- edgement and recognition to Afghan women’s economic contribution. At AWCCI we had a busy year providing capacity building, marketing, easy access to finance and conducting bazaars and exhibitions, represent- ing businesswomen concerns and interests in the policy making platforms, advocating for women’s interests and finally refreshing our knowledge and planning for 2020. Our highlights of the last quarter of 2019 were: Parwarish Oryakhail, Editor 1. The launch of a Revolving Fund for women to borrow on easy terms 2. Holding the 2nd National Women’s Entrepreneurship Summit and 5th Annual Bibi Khadija Award where 15 thriving businesswomen from 13 provinces were recognized. We hope our readers especially women get knowledge, information, inspi- ration and aspiration for entrepreneurship and taking part in the economic development of the country. We hope to get constructive suggestions and what topics our readers would like to read in our magazine. We also hope we get both academic articles from female writers on eco- nomic issues and success stories of businesswomen to publish in our mag- azine.
