AWCCI’s Celebration of Members of Parliament for their success in the 17 th round of Elections to the Parliament AWCCI celebrated the success of Members of Parliament to the 17th round of parliament on July 11, 2019 at AWCCI’s main office. The gather- ing took place in the presence of Dr. Nilofar Ibrahimi, Member of Par- liament from Badakhshan province; Ms. Gulalai Muhammadi, Member of Parliament from Uruzgan Prov- ince; Ms. Rangeena Kargar, people’s representatives from Faryab province; Ms. Soraya Akbari, Member of Par- liament from Paktika province; Ms. Zohra Noorzai, Member of Parlia- ment from Kabul province; Mr. Mayel Khairkha, Chairman of the Interna- tional Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in Afghanistan; Ms. Afsana Rahimi, Chairwoman of AWCCI Board of Directors; Ms. Manizha Wafeq, the President of AWCCI; 6 members from AWCCI’s Board of Directors and 12 Afghan businesswomen. The program started with a welcome note by Ms. Afsana Rahimi to the au- dience. She emphasized on the unity of women and added that integrity is the only way to obtain the goals. Subsequently, Ms. Manizha Wafeq addressed the welcoming speech to the MPs and businesswomen and said that their presence in AWCCI is an honor for AWCCI. She added that AWCCI has delivered considerable services in order to raise the quality and capacity of women businesses in period of two years and two months only. Ms. Wafeq mentioned about the recent achievement of AWCCI in the 11th World Chambers’ Competition in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and added that women are not economic beneficiaries but economic activists. After that, Ms. Nilofar Ibrahimi, talked on behalf of present MPs. She said that, “AWCCI is an organization which till date has had valuable assistance to the community of business people and country’s economy and the existence of AWCCI’s leader- ship is a privilege to us.” Ms. Wafeq introduced the products and services of business- women in different fields such as IT, Freight Forwarding and Shipment, Sports, Medical, Beautification, Search and Place- ment, Dry Fruits and Nuts, Saffron, Apparel, and Jewelry to the MPs. At the end of the program, attendees had the opportunity of networking and getting familiar with each other and the MPs. AFGHAN WOMEN IN BUSINESS 3
