In 1987, during a phone call with his longtime friend and collaborator Barry Grimes, John Ashworth described his vision for creating a“ golf-inspired lifestyle brand.” In that same conversation, Grimes sketched a simple but striking figure on the back of a napkin- a golfer mid-stride with a bag slung over his shoulder- that perfectly embodied the essence of the game: effortless, timeless, and grounded in tradition.
That sketch would become the Golfman, one of the most recognizable logos in the history of golf apparel.
