Day 2
For our second day we operated the Skyvan photoship out of Ryan Airport, as it was the ideal location close to the airspace provided to us by FAA and ATC for the civilian participants. It was also close to an area along the Mexican border that would be used for our military join-up.
We were happy and priviledged to work with the CAF SoCal Wing for our first US warbird encounter.
‘Donut’ flew the F6F Hellcat for us and ‘Lips’ piloted the Zero. This was a unique and magnificent combination that isn't available in Europe. The photomission was expertly flown by the two pilots as both solos and in formation.
Following the warbirds, we had our own private ‘Top Gun’ moment in the form of the US Navy EA-18G Growler Legacy Team from VAQ-129 'Vikings.' They were able to put on an amazing show behind and alongside the Skyvan.
