While APJ loves covering large and spectacular aviation events, sometimes it is the smaller more intimate settings that yeild the most evocative images. That's why when our very own Ricardo von Puttkammer was invited to get up close and personal with warbirds in South Carolina, he packed his things and went, no questions asked. This was exactly the case when our good friend Thom Richard, the President and Chief Pilot of Warbird Adventures and the owner of the well-known P-40 'American Dream' held the first SkyRanch Shootout at his AD SkyRanch in South Carolina in 2023. This special edition of Aviation PhotoJournal highlitghts this event with images from some of the photographers who were there to take in the sights and sounds. Enjoy it.
