This image of A-6E 157017 assigned to VMA(AW)-224 are representative of the squadron's Desert Storm warpaint and mission markings (inset).  The unit flew from Sheikh Isa Air Base, Bahrain with other USMC fixed wing assets including, Hornets and Prowlers.

USMC Harriers participating in Desert Storm displayed a variety of different paint schemes.  In fact no two were exactly alike.  This was a result of painting aircraft in the field with paint mixed in 55 gallon drums.  The inscription (inset) the windscreen displays the bomb tally and Arabic for, "Free Kuwait."
