F-14A 160399 assigned to VF-33 was photographed returning to NAS Oceana on 17 April 1991. It was duped "Christine" due issues experienced by maintainers trying to keep her airworthy during the Desert Storm cruise.
Only two fixed wing aerial victories were scored by US Navy aircraft during Desert Storm. The shooters were a pair of
F/A-18Cs assigned to VFA-81, 163502, shown here, and 163508. The incident took place on January 17, 1991 and involved a pair of Iraqi MiG-21s (F-7A). Following the shoot down, the pair of Hornets completed their bombing mission.
