Hellenic Air Force
C-130 B” Hercules”
The Hellenic Air Force’ s C‐130B Hercules aircraft form one of the most important and hardworking elements of Greece’ s air‐lift capability. Delivered in the 1970s, these aircraft serve with the 356th Tactical Transport Squadron at Elefsis Air Base and have supported the nation for decades through transport, humanitarian assistance, and strategic mobility missions. Despite their age, the C‐130B fleet remains essential for troop movement, cargo transport, NATO deployments, and evacuation operations. Their ability to operate from short or semi‐prepared runways is especially valuable for Greece’ s
widespread island geography and emergency‐response needs. The Hercules fleet continues to support medical evacuations, disaster‐relief efforts, and logistical flights across the region. Each aircraft has undergone periodic maintenance and life‐extension programs to remain airworthy as Greece prepares for future transport modernization. The longevity and reliability of the C‐130B reflect both the resilience of the Hercules design and the professionalism of Hellenic Air Force crews, ensuring Greece maintains dependable and flexible air‐transport.
