Mirage 2000‐5 Mk2
331 Squadron“ Thiseas” is one of the elite air superiority units of the Hellenic Air Force. Founded in 1989, the squadron was established with the arrival of the original Mirage 2000EG / BG aircraft, providing Greece with a highly agile interceptor capable of operating effectively in the Aegean’ s demanding airspace. Over time, 331 became known for its mastery of delta wing tactics, radar employment, and precision missile engagements. In the early 2000s, the unit transitioned to the Mirage 2000 5 Mk2, a major upgrade that brought advanced radar systems, new electronic warfare capabilities,
and compatibility with the highly respected MICA missile family. The squadron’ s base at Tanagra has long served as Greece’ s hub for French-built fighters, and 331 Squadron maintains especially close ties with Dassault Aviation and the French Air & Space Force. Its pilots routinely conduct QRA missions and participate in NATO operations, multinational exercises, and joint patrols. The squadron is known for its professionalism and tactical discipline. Even as Greece introduces the Rafale into service, 331 Squadron’ s Mirage 2000 5s remain a crucial component of national air defense.
