Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre The centre is the only Airfield Museum recreated to its original design on an original WWII airfield. This privately owned centre was set up by farming brothers Fred and Harold Panton as a memorial to Bomber Command, and their older brother Christopher who was shot down and killed in a bombing raid over Nuremburg in March 1944. It holds a rare Avro Lancaster, Lancaster NX611 ‘Just Jane’, available for four-engine engine taxi runs. It also has the original 1940 control tower. Exhibits on The Home Front and Escape and Evasion give a wider perspective on wartime Britain. Newark Air Museum The UK’s largest volunteer-managed aviation museum with 74 aircraft and cockpit sections from across the history of aviation. The types displayed range from a Tiger Moth biplane to the mighty Vulcan bomber; star attractions include Russian MiG fighters and the Swedish Saab Viggen fighter / bomber. Two large display hangars house more than 50 airframes and display 40 aero engines and artefacts. Contacts RAF Coningsby t. 01522 782040 e.
