This Vayots Dzor e-book is co-produced by the My Armenia Program and AGBU Armenian Virtual College. My Armenia is a project that supports the sustainability of Armenian cultural heritage through the development of an inclusive and dynamic tourism sector. My Armenia is funded by USAID and implemented by the Smithsonian Institution. AGBU Armenian Virtual College’s mission is to introduce the wealth of Armenian heritage to the global community in state-of-the-art e-learning programs and interactive, multimedia e-books. Together, My Armenia and Armenian Virtual College have combined their respective fields of expertise to create this dynamic e-book.
This e-book is meant to help plan your trip before you leave, as well as serve as an invaluable tool for navigating the region and deepening your understanding of what you see and experience as you explore Vayots Dzor.
Inside you’ll find an interactive map that will help direct your travels around the region. The map highlights information about historical, natural, and cultural heritage sites and activities as well as great places to eat, drink, and stay.
Beyond this interactive map are chapters with information and multimedia content about the cultural heritage of Armenia, touristic attractions, activities, restaurants, lodging, vineyards, and suggested itineraries. You’ll also find My Armenia-collected vignettes and stories throughout which introduce the people and diverse cultural traditions and histories of Vayots Dzor.
