Yerevan Basics :
The Yerevan Metro named after Karen Demirchyan has been in operation since 1981. The length of the metro line is 13.4 km (8.3 mi) with 10 active stations: Barekamutyun, Marshal Baghramyan, Yeritasardakan, Republic Square, General Andranik, Sasountsi Davit, Gortsaranain, Shengavit, Garegin Nzhdeh Square, Charbakh. Most of the stations are very deep and intricately decorated with national motifs. Although the Yerevan Metro does not cover the whole city it is the quickest way to get around the city. The trains arrive in between 5 minutes during rush hours, and 10 minutes during off-peak hours from 6:30 a.m. until 11 p.m. Although it serves about 60,000 passengers a day, the Metro does not form the main transport artery of the city. A ride on the Yerevan Metro costs 100 AMD.
The over ground Electric transport of Yerevan serves 5 trolleybus routes with 79 trolleybuses. A trolleybus ride costs 50 AMD.
