Yerevan Basics :
Airport: Zvartnots International Airport of Yerevan (EVN) represents the main air gate of the Republic of Armenia. Operating since 1961, it is located 12 km (7.45 mi) west of the capital city. The airport is now the busiest one in Armenia and of the Caucasus region. As of June 2002, the airport is under a 30 year concession agreement for management by Armenia International Airports CJSC, a subsidiary of the Argentinean “Corporacion America” Company, owned by Armenian Argentine businessman Eduardo Eurnekian. Since then, Zvartnots International Airport has undergone modern renovations and expansions, becoming the number one airport in the South Caucasus.
The passenger terminal is equipped with a postal office and a business center, which provides telephone, internet and fax services. Tourists also may get information about Armenia from a touch screen information kiosk situated in the arrivals waiting hall. Upon arrival at the airport, travelers can enjoy a wide range of services, including banking and currency exchange,, shopping, restaurants, cafes, baggage storage, car rentals and taxi services.
AeroTaxi is the official passenger transporter of Zvartnots International Airport. There are also two mini-buses - N 17 and N 18 - operating routes to/from different districts of Yerevan. Prices are fixed and differ depending on the route. However, there are many other taxi service options, and in most cases, one can negotiate the fares.
There are also bus options for getting to Yerevan. Bus No. 201 connects the airport with the crossroads of Sayat-Nova and Mashtots streets of the city. Bus No. 108 also connects the city center with the airport. The Armenian government plans to connect Yerevan to Zvartnots International Airport via metro either with an extension of the current Yerevan Metro line or by building a new metro line with a station at the airport.
