AGBU Chapters in Lebanon

The District Committee of Lebanon comprises nine local chapters, of which seven are in Beirut, one in Zahleh, and one in Tripoli. Since the end of the war in 1990, many of its activities have revolved around the Yervant and Alice Demirdjian Center in Dbayeh, just north of Beirut. The organization awards schol¬arships and provides retired teachers with pensions.

AGBU Chapters in Iraq

The Iraq chapter of the AGBU, created to meet the needs of Armenian refugees in the country, is at present limited to a cultural center located in downtown Baghdad. The center offers weekly Armenian courses, sponsors a marching band, and runs a dynamic scouting movement.

The current president of the AGBU's Iraq branch is Hampartzum Shehranjian.
