AGBU Chapters in Palestine/Jordan

The Jerusalem chapter of the AGBU was created in June 1910 by Dr. Vahan Pascal. It no longer exists. The Union is represented de facto in Jerusalem by the local chapter of the Armenian Young Men Society, which sees to the tasks traditionally carried out in the community by the AGBU. The Armenian community in Jerusalem paid a heavy toll to the events of 1948. The Union’s Haifa and Jaffa chapters were disbanded in that period, after the massive exodus of the Armenian inhabitants of those two Palestinian cities. The AGBU subsidizes the Yuzbashian School in Amman, Jordan.
