Something remarkable is happening in Detroit. The city is exploding. The once bankrupt, desolate. And crime-ridden city has been transformed into a modern metropolis that is booming with art, new restaurants, and activity. Creatives from all over the world are relocating here in record numbers to witness and be part of this stunning transformation.

US News recently listed Detroit as one of the 10 Underrated Cities for creative culture and entrepreneurship. Low rents, the creative vibe, the city’s rich history in manufacturing, and a strong sense of community, are all drawing creative people to The Motor City. And smack dab in the middle of this newfound breath of creative life is the emergence of an underground fashion industry that is getting ready to burst at the seams into a potential global player in the world’s fashion markets.

Detroiters have always had style. From the beginnings and heyday of the industrial revolution, during the civil rights era, and through the economic depressions of the late 70’s and housing market crash of 2009, Detroiters still cared about and coddled their wardrobe. People here didn’t have much, but they'd always make sure they were decked out when they hit the city. On Friday nights in Detroit, you had to come with it.

When people think fashion, they usually think of Paris, Italy, New York, or London. Most wouldn't say Detroit. But if you look around here you will soon notice what Detroit style looks like. (Continued...)
