Stunning not only as a world class beauty, but also as a talented actress with a vibrant soul, Sophia Loren remains one of most well known and truly glamorous icons of international cinema. Her persona has been responsible for many of the most famous and classic fashion trends for the past 6 decades. She has long epitomized Hollywood glamor and sex appeal, and at 83 years young she still mesmerizes crowds of fans where ever she goes. And when you speak with her, she is quick to point out that she doesn’t feel like her age. “I look very very well, by the way! I look beautiful! Fantastic! Everybody says so!” She joked and laughed between courses as we sat and ate dinner at Chicago’s famed Cucina Biagio restaurant.
Raised in poverty in war-torn Naples, Italy, she began her film career in 1951 and quickly became a household name. During her illustrious career Loren achieved many milestones, including being awarded the coveted Oscar for Best Actress during the 1961 Academy Awards for the film Two Women. The Academy further honored her in 1991 by awarding her a Lifetime Achievement Award. She also went on the be honored with the prestigious Golden Globe Cecil B. Demille Award, and she won a Grammy Award for her spoken work on the 2004 children’s album Wolf Tracks and Peter and
the Wolf. Today she spends most of her time at her home in Switzerland enjoying her grandchildren. In honor of her 67th year in show business, we decided to celebrate this international treasure by taking a look back and recreating some of Sophia Loren’s most memorable looks □
