Change Drying Habits

A rough towel rub down immediately after showering can damage the outer layer of your skin called the Dermis. Most people reach for a towel the moment their shower is finished and then vigorously rub it all over their skin to dry off as quickly as possible. Although this might be the fastest way to dry off, it is definitely not the best way for your skin as it removes the body’s own natural moisture along with the left over shower droplets. A much better way to dry off after showering or bathing is to pat the body down softly until its dry which helps keep your skin's natural moisture from being wiped away. Yes, it takes a little extra time, but the benefits are completely worth it.

Eat Fruit

Many people feel that fruit is more of a warm weather food or snack, as statistics show that less fruit is sold and consumed during the winter months. But fruits of all kinds have tremendous anti-oxidant benefits along with a natural high water content which helps hydrate the skin from the inside. Eating fruits such as watermelon, cucumbers, oranges, or apples during the winter months can help provide the essential moisture and hydration that your body and skin need. It is best to add at least one healthy serving of fruit each day to your diet.

Skip The Shave

Women everywhere will rejoice at this next beauty tip! During the winter months, they should put down their razors and skip shaving every day. No, we are not advocating that you let yourself completely go and grow a think layer of hair on your legs and under your arms that would rival the coat of a Woolly Mammoth, but shaving every day when your skin is dried out due to the harsh conditions of winter is less than ideal. A woman's skin is much more sensitive and fragile this time of year, and daily shaving will only irritate it more and exacerbate the situation. It is alright to shave regularly, but every other day, or every third day is much better for your skin in the winter.

Don’t Hold The Phone To Your Face

Nowadays, a person's cell phone has become such an integral part of a their life that it is never more than a few feet away from them at all times. And while it has become second nature to answer a call and press your phone up against the side of your face and ear, this is really a bad idea! Especially during the winter months when your skin is extra sensitive and prone to a myriad of problems. Here's why... Cell phones are carried around everywhere, and as a result, are often full of germs and are dirtier than most bathroom toilets! So by pressing your phone up up to your face, you are also pressing all of the nasty and dastardly little germs against your face as well. Can someone say "Yuck!" You are much more susceptible to breakouts and irritation, including skin infections, from the germs on your cell phone during the winter months when your skin is extra vulnerable. A much better idea is to use a wireless bluetooth ear device to talk... or simply use the speaker phone option and hold the phone away from your face. An even better idea is to put your cell phone down all together and instead look around without distraction at all of the splendor of the winter season!
