Following our AGM I wish to thank all those who
attended and gave their support to the Group and also
to welcome on board Tony Collinson as a new
committee member. Tony is a very active AV worker
and an excellent all round photographer with a real
wealth of experience. Pro-active by character he will
be a great asset to our Group.
Almost as expected, one of the queries raised at
this meeting was in respect of future digital projection
requirements. Currently there is some confusion
about the best way forward, we hope to open up a
debate and eventually make our considered views
known. It is clear that some groups and also some individuals are considering
the purchase or upgrade of projection equipment and need to spend their
money in the wisest way possible. It is also clear that our current XGA standard
of 1024 x 768 pixels is going to be superseded. To the best of my knowledge
the National AV Championship was the first major competition to state that it
would be using 1400 x 1050 pixel projection and I know that some members
were concerned as to how their XGA sequences would perform. It must be
stated that the Nationals team knew exactly what they were doing and that
every sequence regardless of its original format projected fine. If you have
