The Royal Photographic Society is a registered
charity and is therefore bound by the Charities
Commission to periodically provide information
regarding number of activities and man-hour
contributions of its army of volunteers, including
special interest groups such as our own AV Group.
Volunteer man-hours include committee and sub
committee duties, organising events such as our
regular AV Days, National and International
Festivals, and of course the production of AV News.
It is impossible to be precise because most
volunteers simply do not habitually record the
amount of time spent on RPS duties, however our
latest assessment for the AV Group indicates that over twelve hundred and
fifty hours were spent by our various committees, sub-committees, area
organisers, and magazine Editors over the past twelve months. So the next
time you attend any AV event, or read AV News consider that it didn't simply
happen without a lot of time and effort on someone's part.
Members may recall that at our last AGM the membership voted to allow the
AV Group committee to examine the level of subscriptions, and to increase
them if it was found 'necessary'. I'm ve
