AV News 200- May 2015
The RPS NAVC 2015 will be taking place over the weekend of Friday 4th, Saturday 5th, and Sunday 6th September 2015.
It will be held in the Ruxton Lecture Theatre, at the Ruxton Technology Centre, on the Beaconside Campus of Staffordshire University in the town of Stafford, ST18 0AD. As part of the University’ s media technology centre, the raked lecture theatre has a good projector, large screen, and a good quality sound system. Parking is free and is adjacent to the lecture theatre.
Alongside entries from audio visual authors, this year film and video authors will be invited to enter. However, the awarding of Federation points leading to a Federation winner has been discontinued. Another change will be the availability of accommodation. This will not be included in the part of the weekend package, which will only include session bookings and refreshments. Attenders will be able to choose their own accommodation. There are two Premier Inns located adjacent to each other, three and a half miles from the Campus. These are the Stafford North( Spitfire) Hotel and the Stafford North( Hurricane) Hotel. Additionally, the University has single study bedroom accommodation near the Beaconside Campus, which can be booked directly. Please note, that Premier Inns do not give discount for events such as ours, so look out for their offers.
The Saturday evening meal will be held in the Redhill Brewers Fayre next to the Premier Inn’ s Stafford North( Spitfire) Hotel. Places will be bookable via the organisers in order to provide numbers, but payment will be made direct to the restaurant on the evening. The Jury will consist of:
Graham Sergeant FRPS
Linda Gibbs MPAGB AV-AFIAP( Chair)
Joan Ryder Rathband FRPS FPSSA DPAGB AFIAP
Should there be a need for preselection due to the number of entries exceeding the time available, we are bringing back the wildcard session which was originally introduced by Colin Balls FRPS and Ron Davies FRPS. This means that if a wild card session is necessary, there will be four entries voted for by the audience during the Friday afternoon session. Each of the main four projections sessions will show one of the selected sequences. Please make a note of the dates in you diary. Further information on Entry, Closing dates and Booking arrangements will be found on the RPS website rps. org / av
