The 8th of October meeting at the Guild was quite different!
No sitting down and listening in rows. We were in the Main Hall where several
members were already busy around the periphery setting up their laptops.
The night had been careful planned. Demonstrations were done on a variety
of Photoshop and PicturesToExe techniques. The latest software was
introduced and we marvelled at all the new Photoshop tools. We were
encouraged to have a go ourselves and move around the room to see the other
demonstrations if we wished to do so.
It was like being let loose in a sweet shop! Which ones shall we see? I know
I was disappointed not to see Suzanne Walker's demonstration about replacing
skies. However, it is the first time that I've really understood layer masks when
Howard demonstrated them. I've now got lots of third images produced this
way. All I need is a sequence for them!
On the 12th November, more seats were quickly being brought to
accommodate the flow of people for the 'Hints and Tips in AV' talk by Keith
Fisher ARPS.
Keith's opening comment was to do what you enjoy and enjoy what you do.
As an after thought, with tongue in cheek, he said '…and don't volunteer for
anything!' At which point he showed a dramatic introduction of the Red Arrows.
All the hints and tips involved either Photoshop or PicturesToExe (PTE).
Keith pitched the evening at all levels. He began by assembling a simple
sequence, using flowers as the theme. This Sequence, 'Blooming Marvellous'
began and ended with the same abstract background.
This introduced laye
