It's interesting to note that the Board and Associate Members of the TWAIN
Working Group include; Adobe systems, Epson Inc. Eastman Kodak Company,
Fujistu Computer Products and Hewlett-Packard Inc. plus several other well
known technology corporations. Because Adobe Systems and Epson Inc. are
part of this working group shouldn't we be surprised that CS5 does not
apparently support TWAIN by default and that our reader's Nikon and Epson
Scanners are not recognized in the list under Photoshop 'Import' command?
Adobe Systems made the strategic decision when designing CS5 not only
to incorporate many new ground breaking functions, but also that some
previous plug-ins and presets would be removed. For those users who still
want or need to use such legacy functions they may be downloaded as a
separate package and installed as required after completing the normal
installation of Photosh
