Bridgend 5to8
P a u l G re e n
The Bridgend 5to8 Photo Harmony Competition took place at Coytrahen, Near
Bridgend on Saturday 2nd of May.
Twenty entries had been received on a wide range of subjects, from pictures
of paint mixing with oil, taken with a microscope, to an entry using just one photo
and then manipulated using just Photoshop. There were also many landscape,
travelogue and wildlife entries which together with the wide range of music used,
provided for an interesting and enjoyable afternoon.
The judging by Ian Bateman FRPS was to his usual high standard with his
critiques being both constructive and encouraging. Attendance at the event was
regretably slightly down on last year but then we were competing with a sunny
day on a bank holiday weekend.
Copies of the sequences, together with the judge's notes, are sent out to all
fifty clubs in the Welsh Photographic Federation. This means that entries in The
Bridgend 5to8 Competition will be seen by upwards of a thousand people during
the course of the next year.
The winning entry came from Alan Jenkinson of
Pencoed with his sequence featuring Welsh
landscapes and titled "Taking the long way home".
The joint runners-up David R Neal and Chris
Timbrell entered sequences of landscapes of the
Isle of Skye and the Terracotta Warriors respectfully.
We shall be running this competition again next
year and if anyone is interested in entering then see
www.bridgendcameraclub.co.uk for rules and
entry forms.
