AV News 201 - August 2015
Andrew Chadwick
Back in the November 2013 issue of AV News , a letter from me on behalf of Hull YPI Camera Club AV Group appeared , asking if there were other AV groups who would like to take part in a sequence exchange . The idea was that we would send a selection of our members ’ sequences to any participating group in exchange for a selection of theirs . In the end two groups responded , and we agreed that the exercise was very enjoyable and beneficial .
Seeing sequences from people outside the group brings fresh ideas and inspiration . It is also always beneficial to discover what other people think of your sequences and so we encouraged the other groups to send us their comments . A not insignificant benefit was that we filled two nights in our programme !
We are hoping to do the same thing this season and are looking for any other groups willing to take part .

To quickly create a text mask -
Open Objects and Animation and create a text object . Adjust the size and font as required . The colour and drop shadow don ’ t matter .
On the Properties Tab of the text object , click the ‘ Rasterize text to PNG image ’ check box . Ignore the message and click OK . Save the png image in your images folder with an appropriate name .
Delete the text object .
To use the mask , create a Mask Object and in the initial Add Mask dialogue , select Image or Video then browse for the png image that you saved in the above step .
Add an image to the mask object to see the effect .
By animating the image behind the mask you can create some interesting title effects as shown above .
