I would like to thank the Audio Visual Group
for the opportunity to attend the 20th
International Audio Visual Festival, held in
the Royal Agricultural College in Cirencester
on the 14th to 16th September.
At a time of rapid changes in technology,
equipment and computer software, I was
interested to see how these have influenced
the traditions of Audio Visual. My own
experience dates back to a manual plywood
fade unit, which then developed into a
mountain of sound and projection equipment
and a depleted bank balance.
Audio Visual these days is much more
accessible, but the same core skills are
required: imagination and story telling, quality
photography and sound to match. As an international Society, it was
particularly rewarding to see the strength of the overseas entry.
Over the weekend, we saw a wide range of sequences, and the selectors,
two from the UK under the chairmanship of Martin Fry FRPS, and one each
from Belgium and France had an extremely difficult task to select the Award
winners. My congratulations to those who were successful, and knowing the
work involved in putting a sequence tog ]\
