Caught The Light
Lilian Webb AIPF
The 30th Irish Photographic Federation's National
Audio Visual Championships and 1st All Ireland
Audio Visual Competition was held in October. For
the first time, we welcomed Marion Waine ARPS
DPAGB AV-AFIAP and John Rowell ARPS DPAGB
AV-AFIAP as our judges.
It was a very successful weekend with
competitors and visitors from north, south, east
and west. All 37 sequences were judged on the
Saturday, with both Marion and John commenting on each. Dinner was a
very sociable occasion. The next morning, Marion and John introduced many
of their sequences with introductions to each, which were enjoyed by all.
Following lunch, Edwin Bailey was successful in gaining his LIPF in Audio
Visual and we congratulate him. A selection of the prize winners was shown
before the conclusion of the weekend.
The overall winner was Noel Ryan from Shannon Camera Club, who also
won the Novice section for his sequence 'The Fertile Rock'. Big Ted was
thrilled to receive an Honourable Mention for his ‘Little Adventure’. The 1st
winner of the 1st All Ireland AV
Competition was
James Hamill of
Antrim Camera Club with 'What might
have been', which also won the
audience vote in the All Ireland section.
We thank the RPS AV Group for once
again honouring the championships
with the 'George & Doreen Pollock
Medal' and were very sorry to learn of
Lady Doreen's death just a couple of
days before the event.
See opposite for full results.
Marion and John stayed on for a
couple of days and though they
were chasingthelight a couple of
days without success, they
caughtthelight in Glendalough,
unlike Ian Bateman, when he
stayed. However, he happened to
make a sequence on 'A rainy day in
Glendalough', so the challenge has
been put to John & Marion to make
a sequence to show they
caughtthelight!
