AV News 186 - November 2011
I first had to transform them so they were at the same angle, then combine
them on one background.
Missing parts of the picture needed
cloning in. Eventually I managed to
produce a believable composite. It
took several hours’ work to complete!
I now wanted further comments so I
took the sequence to the Yorkshire
AV Day at Bradford. Although it
appeared to go down well, one
comment was to lengthen it! Usually
the suggestion is the opposite.
When I began making the sequence I felt I must try to keep it short, but now
I looked out some more images that reinforced the story. The sequence was
now ready for our internal competition at Wilmslow AVG. It didn’t win, but got
a mention and it came 2nd in its section in the South African Salon.
I entered it in the National Championships in September without any
expectations of an award. You can imagine my surprise and delight when it
was awarded the Bronze medal! What made this even more memorable was
the number of people who came to me afterwards to say how pleased they
were for me. I had thoroughly enjoyed the weekend even before the awards
and receiving the medal was the icing on the cake.
We’re intending to return to Harris as I have another sequence in
mind....but I don’t expect we’ll be as lucky with the weather.
