AV News 192 - May 2013 It never used to be a problem with PTE 4.49, as you could tick the 'Fit to Screen' box and images would always be scaled to fit the maximum dimensions of the projector (Figure 3 right). For some reason this disappeared with PTE 5 and after, so the relevant Project Option dialogues are as shown in Figures 4 and 5, below, but note that even if you leave the 'Fixed size of slide' box unchecked your AVs may not fill the screen. I wanted to get to the bottom of this so there followed a long period of research where I enlisted the help of Ian Bateman and Robert Albright, who were both keen to solve the problem too. They even agreed to look 'inside' my PTE projects to check all the settings were OK. As a result I think we have cracked it! Of course if you make your AVs at 1920 x 1080 it's not going to be a problem. I usually make mine 1400 x 933, but have routinely put a Black Slide of 1400 x 1050 at the start and end. The reason for this is because I don't want 'off-black' bars at the top and bottom (on an SXGA+ projector), or at the sides (on a Full-HD projector), I want a completely black screen. It would seem that the latest editions of PTE just see this first slide and assume that everything else is the same size. So, the answer is: make sure all the pictures in your AV, including the Blank slides, are exactly the same size. Then, whether you select 3:2 or 16:9 aspect ratio in Project Options, your AV should fit the screen on any projector. I r
