AV News 192 - May 2013 Viewing Competition Entries Keith Richardson We received the results of the recent AV competition at Ormskirk. Is there a folio-type way of viewing some of these winning AVs? or are any of them available to view online? Here at the Atherton & District Amateur Photographic Society we have a few members who like to 'dabble in AV' but, as we have no idea of the standard, have yet to seriously look at entering into AV competitions. I agree that it would be a good idea to be able to make a DVD with all the sequences that were entered – but there is a slight problem to doing that. It would need a significant change in the competition entry rules in that they would need to state that ‘all entries could be circulated around the clubs and that by entering the author agrees to that condition’. The problem is that some might not agree as they go around the clubs giving talks in which showing their sequences is obviously a major part of that talk. I suggest that maybe the best way for your members to proceed is to: · Hold your own competition and get a knowledgeable judge in to comment constructively on all the sequences. · If the whole of the club does not want to do that – then maybe those who are interested, send some sequences to a judge for comment. · Book somebody to give an AV talk…and maybe also allow time for that person to comment on your own sequences.
