A Glimpse of Rural Asia

I was lucky enough to go on a photographic
holiday to Asia for six weeks visiting Laos,
Cambodia and Vietnam.
Where to begin…………., we did so much,
taking in Temples at Angkor Wat which were
fascinating and brilliant to see so many monks in
their orange robes. We were lucky enough to visit
local farms and villages, many of which are stilt
villages, including floating fishing villages, plus of
course loads of markets in each of the three
countries, lakes, reservoirs, caves, bamboo
bridges, pottery outlets, rice fields, bird sanctuary
and much, much more.
I certainly enjoyed the trip we made on a sailing
junk on Halong Bay which has over 2,000 limestone islands rising from the
emerald waters of the Bac Bo Gulf. Another highlight was Sapa with its
dramatic scenery and the colourful costumes that the Dao women wear. I
think I used every type of transport during my visit, planes, coach, sleeper
trains, cars, taxis, cyclos, motorbikes, cycles, canoes, junks, coracles plus
my legs which were certainly tired after such a long holiday.
Once I had recovered and sorted out my thousands of images my thoughts
turned to printing a large amount of images plus making an Audio Visual. My
first reaction was to print a large number of the children I photographed as
they really appealed to me then I started looking at the rural images taken in
all three countries. This set me thinking about an AV on Rural Asia and I think
the peace
